Euromonitor International: China market entry for a premium European appliance brand

Key Contributions

  • Built a MECE analytical framework spanning product fit, pricing, channels, marketing, and policy. Defined which elements of the client's premium positioning should remain consistent globally and where the China strategy required local adaptation.
  • Specified data requirements across five e-commerce platforms and seven appliance categories, coordinating with data scientists on collection and local analysts on validation. Owned downstream processing and interpretation of approximately 50,000 listings in Python, standardizing attributes, efficiency labels, prices, promotions, and reviews while preserving channel-specific observations.
  • Mapped competitors in Tableau by category, price band, efficiency, and features. Combined product comparisons with consumer reviews to identify relatively underserved segments, including high-efficiency products at mid- to high-price points, and assessed opportunities in tier-1 and tier-2 cities.
  • Evaluated the European portfolio against Chinese usage needs, product dimensions, and efficiency requirements. Recommended local assortments and compared the brand's website, e-commerce, physical retail, and channel partnerships, incorporating Xiaohongshu and Douyin into marketing analysis.
  • Researched efficiency standards, subsidies, certification, and market access through published sources and expert interviews, including think-tank discussions. Built entry scenarios by category and city tier, translating current requirements and expected policy changes into product-introduction and timing recommendations.
  • Delivered the China market report and represented the workstream in global project meetings. Presented the evidence behind product, pricing, channel, and marketing recommendations; coordinated green-product definitions and policy assumptions. Documented field mappings and processing rules in a reusable template for subsequent regional analysis.
  • Received a full-time offer from Euromonitor's consulting team during the internship.
